Increasing awareness of air quality impact

How much do you know about air quality? We are committed to bolster support for efforts in Arizona to protect and improve air quality and seek to encourage people to take action and incorporate air quality knowledge into their daily living.

We also work with partners and key stakeholders to provide an opportunity for our community to learn about what causes poor air quality and how people can prepare for, and respond to, events and environments with poor air quality. Only by increasing our collective responsibility, we can work together to build a better future for Arizonans.

Facts: According to USA Facts, the average air quality in Arizona is considered unhealthy. Arizona’s poor air quality can be attributed to the worsening air quality in Maricopa County, which has both the nation’s fastest growing population and the fewest good air quality days.

Ozone levels in Phoenix are the fifth-worst in the nation, according to the American Lung Association’s 2024 State of the Air Report.

Arizonans overwhelmingly support expanding the state’s renewable energy portfolio and believe it is vital to supporting clean air and a healthier future for all Arizonans. A December 2023 poll by the American Lung Association shows 70 percent of Arizona voters agree that policymakers need to do more to combat climate pollution.
